Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 April 2026
1. Acceptance
By installing or using the AI Chat Archive browser extension (the "Extension") or the website at aichatarchive.app (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What the Service is
AI Chat Archive is a browser extension that lets you export your own conversations from AI chat products (starting with claude.ai) to local files in formats including Markdown, HTML, PDF, JSON, and TXT. Some features are free; some require a paid license.
The Service is operated under the AI Chat Archive brand. All intellectual property associated with the Extension and Site — source code, artwork, documentation, brand marks — belongs to us.
3. Your account
The Extension requires no account. There is no login, no password, no user profile. Paid features are unlocked with a license key that you purchase through our Merchant of Record (see section 5). Purchasers get a customer account with Polar, not with us.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree that:
- You will only export conversations you have the right to export (typically, your own).
- You won't redistribute your license key, share it publicly, or use it for more people than the license was bought for.
- You won't modify the Extension to bypass paid-feature gating or redistribute a modified version.
- You won't use the Extension to abuse or scrape third-party services (for example, by running it at a volume that violates claude.ai's own terms).
If you violate these rules, we may revoke your license (see section 6 and our Refund Policy).
5. Payments
Purchases are processed by Polar, our Merchant of Record. Polar handles pricing display, checkout, tax collection where applicable, invoicing, and customer support for billing questions. When you buy a license, you are contracting with Polar for the payment; we receive the proceeds from Polar after they deduct their fees and any applicable taxes.
Prices shown on the Site are in US dollars. Polar may present local-currency equivalents at checkout. We reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time; changes affect future purchases only. Existing licenses continue on the terms they were purchased under, subject to section 8.
6. Refunds and revocation
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy (14 days, no questions asked). When a refund is issued, the license key is added to our public revoked.json list; the Extension checks this list approximately once per week and will disable paid features shortly thereafter.
We may revoke a license without refund if we have good reason to believe it has been obtained fraudulently, is being redistributed, or is being used in a way that materially harms us or other users.
7. Transactional emails
When you buy a license, Polar will send you at least:
- A purchase confirmation containing your invoice and your license key
- Receipts for any subsequent recurring charges (for subscriptions)
- Notifications about payment failures, refunds, or cancellations
These are transactional emails required to deliver the Service. We do not send marketing emails.
8. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, or remove features in the Extension over time. Current free-tier features are expected to remain free for lifetime-license holders. If a lifetime license covers certain paid features at the time of purchase, we will not later move those same features behind a separate paywall for those users. New paid features introduced after a lifetime-license purchase are not automatically included.
We may discontinue the Service entirely. If we do, we will publish a notice on the Site at least 30 days in advance where reasonable, and will not knowingly accept new purchases beyond that point.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In short: the Extension runs locally on your device and does not send your conversations or content to us.
10. Warranty disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that claude.ai (or any other AI chat service the Extension supports) will continue to work with the Extension; those services can change their APIs at any time, and when they do, parts of the Extension may temporarily stop working until we ship an update.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through the courts of Hong Kong, unless an applicable consumer-protection law grants you a different forum.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
